ASSESSMENT / ARCHITECTURE / OPTIMISATION
STRATEGIC SECURITY DESIGN
Effective security begins before the equipment is installed.
Security systems often underperform because equipment is selected before the risks, site conditions and response requirements are properly understood.
More cameras do not automatically provide better surveillance. More detectors do not guarantee earlier warning. Advanced analytics cannot compensate for poor positioning, unsuitable lighting or an undefined response procedure.
Tactical AI begins with the environment.
We establish what needs to be protected, where the property is most vulnerable and which events the system must identify. We then consider how those events will be verified, who needs to receive the information and what response should follow.
This creates the foundation for a connected security architecture in which cameras, sensors, access systems, monitoring personnel and response procedures work towards the same operational outcome.
Our consulting services can support new developments, planned upgrades and existing systems that are not performing as expected.
EARLIER DETECTION
Identify the threat before it reaches the asset.
Tactical AI designs the relationship between detection, verification and response from the beginning. Each technology is selected according to what must be identified, where the event may occur and how it should be assessed.
01
Thermal Perimeter Security
Thermal technology can detect the heat signatures of people and vehicles in darkness, difficult lighting and selected adverse environmental conditions.
Tactical AI designs long-range thermal and multi-sensor perimeter solutions for high-risk properties, large sites and locations where conventional visible-light cameras may not provide dependable early detection.
The design considers boundary length, terrain, vegetation, likely approach routes and the distance at which activity must be detected. Thermal and visible-light cameras can be positioned to provide both early warning and the visual information required for verification.
Analytics are configured around defined detection zones and site conditions. This helps distinguish relevant human or vehicle activity from routine environmental movement.
02
Intrusion Detection & Verification
Tactical AI designs internal, external and perimeter intrusion systems around the required risk level and operating conditions of the property.
Where applicable, the design may include Grade 2 or Grade 3 intrusion components, advanced perimeter sensors, video verification, offsite monitoring and controlled deterrence.
The relationship between the detector and the response is considered from the beginning. When an alarm occurs, associated camera footage or visual-verification images can be presented to an operator. This provides greater context and helps determine whether the event requires intervention or escalation.
03
Video Intruder Verification
Video verification connects a detected event with the most relevant camera view.
Camera positioning, detection zones, event-based recording and monitoring procedures are designed together. The operator receives the information needed to assess what caused the activation, where the subject is moving and which response is appropriate.
The objective is not simply to generate more alerts. It is to produce alerts that can be understood and acted upon.
CONTROLLED MOVEMENT
Understand who and what is moving through the environment.
04
ANPR & Vehicle Intelligence
Automatic Number Plate Recognition captures and processes vehicle registration information at entrances, exits and selected monitoring points.
Tactical AI designs ANPR workflows for estates, logistics hubs, office parks, parking facilities and high-traffic commercial environments. Camera angle, mounting height, lane width, vehicle speed, headlight glare and available lighting are considered before equipment is specified.
ANPR information can support vehicle access, approved and denied vehicle lists, visitor management, movement histories and incident investigation. Alerts can also be linked to selected vehicle information where appropriate.
05
Facial Recognition & Identity Intelligence
Facial recognition may support controlled access, visitor screening and forensic investigation where its use is appropriate and lawfully managed.
Tactical AI advises on camera placement, image quality, reference-image requirements, access permissions and operator procedures. Performance depends on lighting, camera angle, resolution, subject movement and the quality of the information used for comparison.
Data access, storage, retention and applicable privacy requirements must form part of the system design. Facial recognition is therefore treated as a controlled security function rather than a general surveillance feature.
06
Visitor Management & Access Control
Access control must protect the property while supporting the legitimate movement of residents, staff, contractors, visitors and service providers.
Tactical AI maps how people and vehicles enter, move through and leave the site. This includes permanent access, temporary permissions, visitor pre-authorisation, restricted areas and access outside normal operating hours.
ANPR, intercoms, CCTV and access records can be connected to provide greater context around each entry event. The result is a more secure access process without creating unnecessary friction for authorised users.
OPERATIONAL INSIGHT
07
Video intelligence with value beyond surveillance.
Intelligent video analytics can help retailers identify security events while also providing insight into how people move through and interact with a space.
Tactical AI designs retail analytics around clearly defined operational questions. The system may need to identify activity within restricted areas, detect prolonged presence, monitor customer movement or provide information about queue length and occupancy.
Human detection, directional movement, people counting and dwell-time analysis can support loss prevention and operational planning. Event-based footage can also make it easier to locate and review activity linked to a particular time, zone or incident.
Each analytic function must be configured around the environment in which it operates. A busy entrance, checkout queue and restricted storeroom require different camera views, detection rules and operator responses.
The value lies in selecting the information that supports a decision rather than generating data without a clear purpose.
08
ONE OPERATIONAL PICTURE
Bring systems, information and people together.
An onsite control room is the operational centre of a security environment. Its effectiveness depends on the relationship between technology, procedures and the people responsible for responding.
Tactical AI plans control-room layouts, operator workstations, display requirements, alarm presentation and system access. Camera feeds and events are prioritised so that operators receive relevant information without being overwhelmed by unnecessary video and repeated alerts.
Operator roles, communication procedures, escalation routes, incident records and shift handovers are considered alongside the technology. This helps ensure that information moves clearly from detection to decision and response.
CCTV, intrusion detection, access control, ANPR, visitor management and offsite monitoring can be brought into a coordinated architecture. Live audio, sirens, strobes and approved fight-back measures can then be connected to verified response procedures.
Integration is not pursued simply to make the system more complex. Every connection must improve awareness, simplify operation or support a more effective response.
IMPROVING SECURITY PERFORMANCE
Make better use of the infrastructure already in place.
Security environments change over time.
Vegetation grows, lighting shifts and movement patterns evolve. Cameras may become obstructed, detection zones may no longer reflect the risk and analytics that performed well during commissioning may begin producing unnecessary alerts.
Tactical AI assesses existing CCTV, intrusion and access-control systems to identify gaps in coverage, configuration and operational performance.
The assessment can examine camera positioning, fields of view, image quality, lighting, thermal coverage, detection zones, analytic behaviour, false-alarm patterns, recording performance and monitoring workflows. Sensor and camera relationships are also reviewed to determine whether operators receive the right information when an event occurs.
The outcome may involve repositioning equipment, refining detection rules, adjusting sensitivity, updating operator procedures or introducing selected new technology. The intention is to improve the value of the existing system before recommending unnecessary replacement.
FROM ASSESSMENT TO IMPLEMENTATION
From detection to decisive action.
Every consulting engagement is shaped around the project.
The process begins by understanding the organisation, operational environment and required security outcomes. We then assess the site and existing infrastructure before developing the system architecture, coverage strategy and response workflows.
Depending on the scope, the consulting process can produce a security design brief, camera and detector layouts, equipment recommendations, device schedules, integration diagrams, monitoring procedures and a phased implementation roadmap.
Testing and commissioning criteria can also be established so that the completed installation is evaluated against the intended design rather than simply checked for power and connectivity.
Where required, Tactical AI can support configuration, commissioning and system optimisation during implementation.
The result is an outcome-driven design that helps the organisation detect relevant events earlier, reduce avoidable false alarms, verify incidents more accurately and coordinate its response more effectively.
